Fuel warning light on NA?

Postby Slugoid » Mon Jun 05, 2006 5:39 pm

Just wondering if there was a fuel warning light on the NA6? As far as I can tell I can't see one, or is it just me :? ?

I don't have the manual for the car so I'm not sure as to what warning lights there are. All I can see are 4 warning lights: seat belts, handbrake, charge (battery) and the ex-heat one.

Nope, you look at the thing with the needle.
It goes to just below empty.

Nope, but the fuel guage is pretty accurate.

There is no low fuel warning light in the NA - the Handbook specifies that there is a reserve 6 litres once the gauge reads empty - mine is a 1.8 litre Clubman and I still get 8.2 Lt/ 100 km on Town Cycle :D

The NA6 has a fuel warning light.

It is the same one that indicates a fault with the alternator.

When the car rolls to a stop and the light cones on, you are out of petrol.

This light has saved me twice from thinking that the car was sleepy and just needed a rest.

What's the small light above the fuel gauge on the NA8? I'm pretty sure my NA6 didn't have one and I know it's not a fuel warning light as it wasn't on before I put 45 litres in the tank just after picking it up.

def no fuel light on the NA6, we've had the needle about 4mm to the left of the line.

Thanks for that. Always curious as to how far I can go until the light will go on when I'm nearing empty....I guess that won't happen  .

From memory the light above the fuel gauge in a NA8 is the hardtop window heater indicator light.

I've never taken it past the empty line, though the Mrs decided to go shopping with no fuel and it was about 1mm below when I filled it up. She took just over 40l  Never saw a light some on.

Most of my driving is around town withan odd freeway run. I generally get around 9l/100kms

If you cant be bothered to look at a fuel gauge why would you look at a light? I really see no point in a fuel light at all. Dave Hughs was on Nova on Saturday bitching about his Monaro. It has a fuel gauge AND a fuel light and he still ran out of fuel because \"the fuel light comes on to early and you ignore it\" When the gauge points to empty it's time to buy more fuel people. It's not that hard.............
