Postby maxwolfie » Fri May 19, 2006 3:46 pm

OK, I've got some wax on my black soft top, at the top of the windscreen pillar (along the edge where the top meets the windscreen...) It's gone all white yukky colour and I cant get it off (tryed scrubbing and stuff didnt work)

What will get it off.... ?

I used a bristle brush (the soft kind for polishing shoes) and Meguiar's Vinyl Shine. The brush gets the Meguiars goop really deep into the grain of the top and scrubs the polish out.

I used wheel cleaner and a hard bristle toothbrush.. But i also used masking tape and newspaper to cover the painted surfaces.

I was at SCW today and noticed that they mask up all the black trim when they do the buff. I've never seen that done before. Some polish/waxes are really evil to black trim.

You could try prepsol, spray painters use this stuff to take the polish/wax off paint work before painting a car so I'd say it will clean it off. Don't know if it would damage the soft top though so maybe ask your local pannel shop and test it on a bit that can't be seen.

I've done this before. Just used Meguires Vinyl cleaner on it applied with one of their applicator pads.
