The lock on the centre bay (between the seats) will not turn with the car key. Nothing seems to be broken in it. The key seems to go all the way in.
The lock is a sealed unit. What options do i have ?
i don't want a seperate new key.
>> Has anyone has experiance of one of these being able to be
adjusted to your existing car key ?
Thanks

Can you open the console lid?
I couldn't lock mine when I bought it. Turned out that the tongue of the locking mechanism was jamming because some f*&#wit had tried to force the console lid at some stage when it was locked. Take the console out and have a look at the lock from underneath. IIRC, you can detach the lock once you have the console out. You have to be able to open the lid though to get to two of the console screws.

An update for others . The locksmith said there was nothing they could do so i gave it a go myself. The outcome was successful so the tips follow ..
First of all i drilled out the 2 lugs on the back

Now when you take the lock apart, do this on a table with some white paper on it. The reason being the lock has 5 sliders with 5 very small springs that easily fall out . Your lock will look like

The copper lugs sticking out are the things that stop the lock from turning
Next i remove all the lugs and started at lug 1 with the key in, i tried different lugs until i got a "flush" look with the key in , etc.
After all 5 lugs are adjusted i had something like

Now a couple of the lugs where a bit proud so i filed them to make them flush, placed the barrel back in the lock, a voila! it worked .
I then drilled out the lug holes and added some replacement screws

Done good as new. I can only guess the keys where changed at some stage on my NA. Any way this exercise proved that it is possible to adjust the lock to any key with a bit of time, a drill, a file and screws.
Overall it only took about an hour, a suprisingly successful "first time" project .
