New wiring harness adaptor for NA!

Hey guys,

In the throes of installing a new aftermarket Pioneer MP3/CD player into Lara. Rather than cutting all of her wires, I've heard that you can buy adaptors which convert the wiring arrangements for the old factory radios into the pin pattern for whatever the current standard is (ISO???).

Does anyone know where I can obtain one? I really loathe the thought of letting some JB HiFi audio installer into Lara and let him/her hack'n'slash their way through the installation.

Thanks,

Matt

Have a look at http://www.installer.com/wires/

From memory there was a group in Brisbane that made similar for most cars but can't recall their name.

Cheers

As a tip..

On my MX5 I wanted to use the factory wiring, with an Alpine head unit.

I just stuck steel pins into the wiring harness socket, and then soldered these pins to the wires provided by the Alpine.

No need for cutting wires, and a bit of glue over the top and it's held together for 7 years !

There aren't that many wires to do.. and lots of people having wiring diagrams.

If you can't get one, let me know model and year.. I'll tell u the colour codes.

With my headunit, just got the correct harness adapter. In my case around 20 dollars at the local northfield car sound and an hour or so of matching the wires up to the plug supplied with the pioneer head unit and soldering and heatshrinking. Yours would probably be similar to the 323, eunos 30x like mine was.

In the end I found it was more painful trying to screw the head unit up to the existing mounts.

hope this helps

The problem with the Aeropro harnesses is that there is not one specified as appropriate for the MX5. There is one for MX3s of the same vintage and MX6s of the same vintage, but I just want to be sure before spending the cash.

Anyone with Aeropro experience and getting the correct adaptor?

Our NB8A stereo was "fordmaz" or some brand like that, and yes i'm 98% sure the loom said it was for "ford". Take your old head unit with you and check before you buy it.

MUCH easier than soldering, gluing, wiring diagrams, less chance for something to go wrong and annoy the crap out of you. And it's 100% reversible.

Hello Matt, I did and install the other weekend with the Aerpro harness adaptors. If you choose Mazda 1995 323 on there harness selection you will get the right ones. I used 717901F & AP7901F for my installation of and EQ/Booster amp. $19.95 each and all plug and play no solder necessary.:)

Andrew.

The one from SuperCheap - very unassuming looking pack which says something like "Mazda adaptor harness". I think that it has a blue cardboard back.

See my site! (in my sig)

If you're interested, I can yank the headunit out on Sunday and take photos of how I soldered the adaptor harness to the headunit's harness. The beauty of the whole installation is that all of my soldering was done on a table in the garage. None of this "solder in the car" bollocks.

Supercheap Auto at Kotara stocks them in a few different brands including those mentioned above. (5 minutes from your place)

Stroll down with the stock unit in hand to compare, I got one for my daihatsu :? the other day for $25.
