Hey mate i got quoted $30 per guide to put my supplied Supertech bronze valve guides in the Stewart head........ but that's at a head specialist down my way.
i thought this was reasonable because the guides will need to be honed out to the correct tolerance with the stem and fitted to the head.
hope this helps.
love the polished flat top by the way, tossing up if i want mine polished or painted to match my rocker.

Hmmm that’s a pain, now you mention it I remember reading that it’s a pain on the VVT valve cover.
would LS coils be an option?
Then no concern about spark blow out later, I know more money but you could hopefully tick that off as done and never look at it again.
If I had known I would go the way I’m going with mine I probably would of gone with LS coils to start with, easier to get and plenty of upgrades.

Well there has to be a way. These ones have 3 notches while normal Toyota cops have 4.

It would be simple enough to wire the trigger , Earth & B+
But good chance my speedo will not work. I could even try to use my current Wiring just use 2 of the plugs

Just wondering how the valve guides made it past the pistons into the crankcase?
Must be missing something here?

2 different things at play here Jules.

I have 3 different engines atm.

engine 1 fitted to Feenix.
engine 2 being prepared to be fitted to feenix
engine 3 being used to fix engine 2.

Engine 1 had some big motherfucking cams fitted recently. while doing this, the cam sprockets broke & the valves were bent when touching the pistons. eventually breaking the valve guides. The broken pieces of the valve guides ended up in the combustion chamber.
Camgear is toast.jpg

Engine 2 had broken sump. it had a oil leak out of one of the bolts attaching the gearbox check photo

Bolt in sump.JPG

The bolts used to attache the gearbox were too long & therefore punched a hole in the sump when tightened
when removing the sump the engine was turned upside down one of the pieces made its way into then crank case and had to be fished out.

the piece of metal in the crank case is different to the piece of metal in the combustion chambers. They are also in different engines.

I hope that makes sense

So ive been OS for a few weeks, rego is due, no garage to do the work at. It was decided to do the engine change in the street in front of my place.
a scenario far from ideal.

Of course it was also a super hot day & Speedy came around to keep an eye on me & help. Thank you Speedy.

work started at around 5;45 am & getting the engine out of a shed onto an engine stand and assembling the engine crane .
Installing a vvt.jpg

fist the BP-4W had to be removed. I removed the head a while back to see what the damage was to the engine. So it was easy work getting that engine out. didnt take long at all.

The workshop......Old engine out with gearbox attached. & new engine getting the last preps before installation.

Workshop 2.jpg

The whole thing took me over 12 hrs. It was a marathon. In the end the big delay was getting the Engine mounts to line up. In the end a little wiggle got it in. but it took us a few hrs. At one stage the crane also decided to break. But lucky for us we didnt need to lift he engine any more at that point.

at around 5 or 6 pm the engine was in. PPF attached. Far from finished but this will continue over the next few days.

VVT They said!!.jpg

.
But I was seriously at the end of my strength.

Not doing one of those changes in the street in the heat of summer, ever again.
We then recieved a hearty meal. Thanks sera. I seriously had not intended to look that aggro
