I still say acrylic is the easiest for home use and far more forgiving- the paint is still available e.g. all touch up cans are acrylic. The subject is actually quite complicated i.e. the whole process. Its not really something that one does without doing quire a bit of reading and re reading first and talk to the guys on the inside i.e. paint suppliers to automotive. I can recommend 'Paint Your Car on a budget' ( Paint your own car in your own garage at home) Author Pat Ganahl. That covers all the processes with lots of tips and pictures. Reference books are useful because most of us cannot take things all in in one pass.

Morlock, I did a 4 year apprenticeship, & several years in a trade involving the use of all different types of spray equipment, and the application of most finishes. So I think I may just know HOW to spray. However this was in the late '70s & we didn't use 2 pack finishes. That said, I have not yet decided what type of finish I will use. That's the whole point of my original question to Billy.
