Does anyone know why the quotes I'm getting down here seem two-three or even four times the quotes others are getting in different cities? A couple of places even told me $650 for 3 windows. Pretty much everywhere claims it's an entire day job so I'm baffled by this.

So if you can buy all the stuff on your own for about $35 and knock out the job in your own garage in 40mins... What are we paying hundreds for? Yes there are labour costs but at $600 it seems like $250 an hour virtually on labour alone. Then factor in the tint shops would get the tints in on a massive roll so the cost of the sections used would be cheaper than buying individual sheets.

I'm not saying don't get work done at shops here or anything. But I'm just a little stunned at the crazy markup. I don't know, maybe it's Geelong? I'll give that place in Melbourne a call though... Well, when I have money again haha.

Can't say for sure but somewhere around $200 or so. Best to give him a ring. It is not a big job. He could have it done while you wait. Should take a hour or so to fit. Have a look at his website www.cartint.net.au

Im looking at getting just the strip at the top of the windscreen done as i have removed my visors. Anybody know what the rough cost of this is? I checked regulations and the top 10% or 6.5cm of the windshield you can go as dark as you want.

Ill probs give cartint in ringwood a call later today and see if they work weekends

Scratch that, they arnt open on sat mornings. Anybody know of somewhere in melbourne that is open sat morning?

*bump*

Just wondering if anyone has recommendations (recent? I note this thread is 3 years old) for places in Sydney, preferably Artarmon or North Shore area? I'm looking at getting a 35% tint on an NB8C (2 windows + rear glass in the soft top).

I've had quotes from 2 places in Artarmon. One was $250 and the other $264 (2x$77 for the windows and $110 for the rear, which I thought was excessive). Based on what others have said earlier in this thread that seems quite expensive. I've also heard from a friend that he's been quoted $300 to do his Liberty wagon, which has about 15 times as much glass as the MX5! I'm chasing him up for names as well.

Any advice appreciated!

The reality is once they get going, it really is very little extra work to do an additional 2 windows.

As for LEGALITY WHO GIVES A F***
A DEFECT FOR A TINT is so easy to clear. JUST take the tint off!
Show cars dont even get defected for tint what makes you think you will..
The only time a cop would realy get you .. if one you look middle eastern, 2. your caught doing burnouts or something spastic like drifting a roundabout or 3 your a real CxUNT to the cop
