When the guy was in front of the car busting your headlights, you should have run the c#*t over!
Seriously, no jury would convict you for protecting your car.

A couple of broken legs would have taught him a lesson.
Either that, seeing as your car was already damaged, maybe you should have just reversed into his car and then dríven off.

knowing what i would have done, i would have gotten out of my car, let him take a swipe at you.. so you can press charges against him for assault. then sue him for damages to your car, then get victims compensation from being injured and from being scared.

oh yeah, did you know you can press charges for assault for him causing you to feel \"feared\"? :P
i can't brain today.. i have the dumb..

Jeez the pictures are pretty saddening, especially considering otherwise your car looks to be in great condition.

I agree, try and get the guy for everything you can. Go and see some people about taking legal action.

Well its understandable it wouldn't have been exactly a pleasant situation.
You'll learn alot from it all, though this isnt the best way to learn about your car and places that stock what you need.

Yea it looked pretty nice before, and soon you'll have her looking better.

Bugger. Going to the cops kinda hinges on that, but of course it's understandable. I still would've gone to the cops, but I wouldn't have expected much either.

I guess this is just one of those situations where you'll just have to bear the brunt of it and take it as a lesson learned of what to do if this situation occurs again.

In W.A. you can use any force YOU deem appropriate to defend yourself or your property.

You'd just have to prove that you feared for your life and that getting out of your car would have been more dangerous than risking permanently injuring that tool
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Sorry to hear of this great evil. The real scarey part is that you dont know how far some of these psychos will go. Getting out of the car might be the last mistake you ever make.

I had a friend in the States who was set upon by an evil doer during the LA riots some years back. While he was seated in his car when a big black fellow set upon him with a base ball bat. As the bad man was making ready to smash the windscreen the mate pulls out his .45 & blows the screen out in the general direction of the rioter, narrowly missing him.

The mate told his insurance company that a rioter broke his screen & they replaced it for him.

Sorry you didnt have a .45 or a passenger with one.

I'm happy to let you have my mirror. Just let me know when you are next coming out on a Thursday night and I will bring it along. Try dick at the mx5 factory for a second hand fender or failing that try mania. If you get a brand new one you have to paint it straight away as it is bare so that is another factor. Would be interested to actually see what is wrong with your lights. Cheer up, could have been alot worse :)

Just one other thing as well. If you want to buy the headlights I'm sure that myself or one of the other kind Melbourne forumites will be happy to fit it for you which can save you some cash

i think i am going to call dick on monday as he seems to be my best bet, as for the lights, 200 hundred is the price for both and james is doing the fitting for free so thankyou for the offer anyway.

thankyou alot for the side mirror, its ver generous of you, is it the standard fit from the early mx5 with the black spacer or the nb style one?
