How do you guys feel about two orders but we still split the postage? The orders would have to go to separate addresses. Or maybe I should just separate my order from yours.
Boys it's not GST you pay, it's import duty. From memory running about 15% so you are far better off splitting the shipment into two parcels and keeping it small.
MX5Parts will have the gear to you in about 5 - 7 days. They're that good.
And as stated above, no VAT. And if you are really lucky, no customs duty.

How long ago was that? Reading straight from the horse's mouth:
Was your order recent, or have things changed?
One way to avoid the customs is just to have the order split between two addresses and names. I guess it's something we can sort out on Saturday if need be.
Irrespective of how your imported goods arrive in Australia, you will be required to lodge a formal Customs import declaration if their value is above $1,000, and to pay the calculated duty and taxes.
duty, where applicable, is based on the classification of the goods within the Customs Tariff Act 1985. Goods and Services Tax (GST) is also payable on most goods at a rate of 10%. Refer to example 3.

So, when we do this, is the plan to split up into groups of less-than-$1000 lots delivered to different addresses to avoid customs fees and GST?

We should set up an evening this week perhaps with Wayne, or maybe even a weekend time. Sabre, I have heard from a fairly reliable source that the OEM Mazda water pump is superior to the aftermarket one. I would suggest for most \"normal\" people who are not in the habit of yanking their turbo engines out frequently that they go genuine. You may be in the second category however.

That's true. I'll definitely change to the genuine model. I mean I don't care if I have to replace the water pump - pulling the front of the motor down is now a bit of a trivial task. Of the problems that I have had, I've never had a water pump install that leaked - they're difficult to get wrong. But I may as well pay the couple of bucks extra for the peace of mind.
I PM'd Wayne and he mentioned sorting it out later in the week. I actually PM'd him for his details to head over there on Saturday til I heard that it had been resecheduled.
Pfft, Mr Smarty Pants. I've only done it twice!
