Ok guys, I finally found it...

It was the piece of trim inside the boot on the drivers side (above the battery) squeaking against the mounts, the top, the bottom, everything...

bloody annoying, but so glad it's gone now.

My car used to do that too. My subwoofer fixed it.

My squeak has come back though I solved an earlier one... the rubber bump stop on the door frame had worn to the metal and was giving a metal to metal squeak. The rubber is very thin. I swear the squeak comes from the back suspension somewhere, like a linkage that needs a drop of oil.

i too have this annoying squesk coming from what i think is the back left of the car - sounds a bit like rubber on glass, but its not.

i have decided that trying to identify and rectify it is more annoying than the squeak itself.

this thread is like one of those mystery sound competitions that are on the radio every so often!
