Paint Diagnosis Please ....

Postby kazjim » Thu Apr 09, 2009 9:01 am

Yea, I've noticed that already, its got a few coats of good wax at the moment and last weekend i gave it a go with the speed detailer

looks a million bucks with the new roof, freshly 303'd

Now, if i could do something about the flaking clear-coat on the nosecone, the peeling bit of paint on the passenger door and the cat-scratches on the boot, I'll be happy !

If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits eighty-eight miles per hour ... you're gonna see some serious s**t.

Paint Diagnosis Please ....

I am not so sure that Benny is entirely wrong. Facts are that some imported vehicle paints esp reds were inferior. The Allunga testing that I referred to employed in Au was about subjecting paint to a tough environment and if the product itself is not formulated with the best pigment then amongst other things it can fade. Some of these faded vehicles are not recoverable. But having said that there is nothing to be lost in trying the sealants that Dan referred to and see if this is effective- it probably comes down to degree. .
Kazjim's paint probs re flaking clear coat and the door are fixable.

The sealants i refered to will do nothing to fix the oxidisation that has already occured. This needs to removed abrasively with a product such as menzerna power finish or intensive polish. the sealant will stop the problem re occuring
