I bought my soft top from mx5 factory, it was off a 03 nb8b i think and the top had only been used for a year or so, so off it came and on to my na6, fit's like a glove. it is like new, no wear or anything, just a tid bit of UV fade in the usual place on the inside. i also got the frame as well. and the best thing was the price

$600 for roof, frame, fitting, detailing and rain rail. The roof is still in fantastic nick, no signs of leakage or stress

If you can get a 2nd hand one complete with frame then fitting is really easy (slightly fiddly, but easy).
If you get an aftermarket roof and go to a trimmer for fitting you can probably expect to pay $400-$600 for the installation (on top of whatever the roof costs).
I had a Robbins glass window roof on my NA and was happy with it. It folded down fine even with an NB windblocker in place. The only minor issue was that the NA frame it was sitting on didn't have the springs on the back "ribs"/bars/metal bits so I always had to push them together by hand when I dropped the roof.

Springs? I have an NB8A and when I fold the roof, I pull the two bars above the window together to get the window to fall in the flat position. Am I missing some springs that do that? If so what are they called and where do I get them?

don't go around asking dick for that kind of deal as you won't get it that way, he offered it to me while I was also having some major servicing done. Just ask him what he has.

Perhaps the NB8A didn't have them. I'll see if I can get a photo. They're not essential, but they make it a bit easier.

Thanks Mr_Q. There is a spring low on each side where the bows come together if thats what we are looking for, but they don't seem to do much. Would they need to be replaced on a ten year old car? They don't seem to have enough tension - can be squeezed by hand. I assumed the spring first mentioned would be nearer the top of the hoops to pull them together? I should look at another NB8A at the next club run.
I also looked on the parts list on miata.net/garage but no springs are shown or listed on the soft top diagram at all.
(Sorry crzymx for partly hijacking your thread. I hate it when people do that )

Does this spring connect to a cable that runs down the side of the top? The other end of the cable has a rivit to hold it to the frame of the roof?
You can buy the spring and the cable from mx5 parts uk...
