If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Looks like batshit now during the prototyping stage... but I think it would be pretty damn awesome when it's finished

also there would be a problem with the coupe being RHD only unless they swapped the dash, steering rack, brakes setup and all that with a donor car

I think it will just be the case of attaching the hardtop (in the usual way) and swapping boots over. :|

Forget the NB... it looks like he's rhinoplasty-ing an NA in his garage...
Are all of his cars made of bog or what?

someone get this guy a restraining order for the sake of the cars???

Looks like a separate section at the back, but not big enough to allow use of the boot...

That guy makes quite a few exterior upgrade goodies for the MX5's over in the states. All the bog is the prototyping work he is doing.

His prices are actually quite reasonable for what you get... His vented bonnet is also based on function...

But agreed.. there's just so much nasty in his garage :D

Don't worry Raymo, give it 6 months for a painted finished version to be released and they'll start to change their tune :D

I’m sure when they built the prototypes at the factory there would have been some days when it would have looked similar to this guys garage.

For what it's worth I think it looks good. I'd like to see it in the flesh to see how the boot/tailgate operation works. One of the best parts of the Roadster Coupe is the fuel flap design however this one looks like it's the std set up.

I love the idea of these people putting their individual stamp on what is a great car. Might not be to all our liking but nice to see anyway.

Are US grey import laws less strict then us? If so wouldn’t be easier and cheaper just to bring this in.


You think we have draconian laws......... try and import a car to the good old US of A. Anyone can see the MX5 would be an obvious alternate choice for a 7 litre, gas guzzling, Pick-Up and therefore a risk to their local car industry which does a great job pumping out cop cars and taxis. All this with the quality control of a Chinese candle factory…… Then again Holden and Ford have been doing the same thing for years protected by the Aust Govt. Now that Mitsubishi’s pulling out and the cracks are developing in Ford and GM, maybe the enthusiast car market and ICV guys will have a chance.

I didn't play with it at the Wakefield day, but I certaintly looked at it a lot because it really piqued my interest. The fuel lid has been shaped to the curves of the rear lines, so there's basically an upturned lip (as such) on the lid which follows the lines of the car. I really should've popped the fuel lid to see it in action when I was nosing around the inside the car :P
