Basically, if you're willing to pull the car apart and spend an afternoon on it, it's quite easy to get metallic looking surrounds. I'm personally not a fan of super shine (ie chrome), so the finish I've gotten with mine is pretty much perfect.
Be warned though. If you've got any scratches/nicks/etc on your black trims, sand them down and fill them out. The silver spray paint really makes them stand out a lot more.
