Wanna do a swap I've got cloth! I don't need to grip anymore as I'm in semi-retirement mode...PT wrote:I like the leather in my car, they look great feel great but they aren't very comfortable. You tend to slide around a bit and they are really cold on a winter morning for a few minutes.
I want cloth ones because they are more grippy.

Drive naked on leather seats - it feels better
Regarding perspiration -
If the seat is perforated then sweat goes into the sponge and eventually the car starts to smell and it needs a serious dosage of Ferbreeze and some time in the sun with the \"leather seat cover off\" if you can do it.
If the seats are not perforated, the sweat only remains on the surface, gets mildly absorbed by leather but doesn't go seeping into the sponge and is cleaned easily and sweaty oily smell goes away.

And how is this different to cloth seats? After nearly 4 years my car still smells of leather not locker room.
and to add on to that question.... do you sweat more in leather???
Despite what people think about leather being a natural material, being able to breathe etc etc, in my experience on a hot summers day it makes bugger all difference whether you have cloth or leather seats. (leaving them in the sun notwithstanding).
They are both going to make your back/bum hot (temperature wise - not sexy sizzle hot. If you want he latter go do step classes). The best cure I've used for this problem is to simply lay a fluffy towel over the seat to help get some extra air between you and the seat. Stopping every now and then also helps to air the back and seat.
Cloth wins hands down for grip, but suede (or alacantra) offers similar levels of grip as cloth and also has the durablility of leather. PITA to clean and maintain though. I hate the OEM leather seats... anything more than coasting pace and I slide all over the place in the seat. the seat belt doesn't help here either... I'm sure a 6 point harness will go some way to fix the problem, but nothing will hold you better than a fixed bucket... so on the shopping list will soon be a Sparco but that could be a while yet... maybe sooner if I win the lotto...

Cloth seats can "breathe easier", any odours can escape easier and not be trapped in.

really depends how you clean them also. so if your using an armoral or similar cleaning product that leaves a protective coat and shine. use a terry towel or some sort of clean rag and try and buff off the excess.
i dont tend to slide much in mine.. though there is some slide in the upper body but i feel thats more seat shape.
i just pull down on the seat belt near my side and use the foot BRACE (yes thats right brace, next time your going for a run push on the foot \"rest\" and you'll find it holds you into the back of the seat.
but yeah leather dose slide compared to cloth. and it dose get hotter and breath less (i have black leather, have fried my ass many a time in summer)
but damn its sexy
