Man you guys in Aus are sooo lucky. The standard of panel and paint there is so much better than in New Zealand. When i lived in Aus i couldnt beleive the standard of an average paint job, that youd have to pay $3000 for here in NZ.Its so hard to find a good panel and paint shop here in NZ.

3 K is nothing....back to metal type of paintjob will cost you closer to 8k. but that would be a nice paint job.
what steve818 has done there is sensational for $120

well done I'll be expecting to spend about 600-800 as i need to purchase a gun & compressor as well.

but gees that black looks fantastic. Well done steve

Thanks for the feedback guys.

As Matty said, it looks pretty good considering it was done with a roller...

I didn't use Tremclad. I used an Aussie paint called Tremco Metal Armour. It's the same type of enamel paint and rolls really well.

So far I'm pretty happy with the way that it's holding up.
When I applied the paint, it was thinned with a 4:3 ratio of paint to turps and the coats went on very thinly. Then I left everything to dry for 24 hours before sanding it back and applying the next coat of paint. There are 7 coats of paint on the car and the paint is pretty tough. I expect it to get slightly better as well over the next few weeks as it further cures.

Oh and in total honesty, the pics on the first page were taken 24 hours after the last coat of paint was rolled on. And before any polishing at all.
