Tried it didn't work still got the buzzer
What I thought was the right thing to disconnect turned out to be the horn.... cant see anything like what's in the photo still have the buzzer and no "lights on" warning either which I could have used the other day.
Left the lights on during the day and flattened the battery
I've got an NB8A, maybe this applies to NB8B's onwards which is a bummer cause I hate that noise

i just did this to my 98 model NB.
the socket that the 2 wires plug into is fixed, its not just dangling, also i had some protective strip around the 2 wires so i couldnt see it, but after i pulled it out i took a closer look under the protector and saw the blue with red and orange strips.
its located to the left of the steering wheel and is fairly high up and close to the actual steering wheel.
hope this helps

This should apply to all NBs. Erwino is right. It s high up and inline with the steering column. I suppose a good guide would be looking for it between the steering column and the electric side mirror adjuster.sunseekermx5 wrote:I've got an NB8A, maybe this applies to NB8B's onwards which is a bummer cause I hate that noise
Where abouts are you located?

Central coast but I'll have another look all I can remember to the left of the steering column is a large white coloured connector with a bunch of wires with tape around it(I think) so I couldn't see what was going so I didn't go any further

thats the one, there should be to groups of wires going into that big white connector, remove the top set of wires then just flash a light at the end of the connector to determine what colour the wiring is

Might be a bit harder with the tape around it. All you're looking for is a single small plug (about 1.5cm wide) with inly 2 wires in it.sunseekermx5 wrote:Central coast but I'll have another look all I can remember to the left of the steering column is a large white coloured connector with a bunch of wires with tape around it(I think) so I couldn't see what was going so I didn't go any further

You can trace the wires from the ignition switch. There should be two wires protruding from the switch barrel. Follow them from the switch to the first connector then unplug it. Bingo. Everything should work as normal except the key buzzer.

its to the LEFT of the steering wheel and has a WHITE connector...cant miss it really...
Well I must have a special edition wiring harness or something because I've tried following the wires from the ignition barrell there are no blue with red/orange wires. Two black ones which went to a white connector unplugged em still had the buzzer.
The large white connector just under and to the left of the steering wheel is wrapped up with more tape than an egyptian mummy cant see a thing there. There are two blue with red/orange wires that run into a large black connector but you have to remove the lower cover to get to em and they aren't running to a small white connector so I left them
So much for the easy uninstall of key buzzer so far I've had the covers off 4 times

What covers?sunseekermx5 wrote:So much for the easy uninstall of key buzzer so far I've had the covers off 4 times
The onlt one you need off is the one underneath the dash (just above your feet. It's only 2 screws, pull it down and look up. Are you trying from a different angle?

Well in the original description they talked about the covers around the steering wheel. You know the top one just lifts off and the bottom one has two screws holding it on. Well the one under the steering wheel actually has three anyway. Then I worked my way down to the cover above the feet( which does have 2 screws) removed that etc etc refer to previous post as to what was there. The only blue with orange stripe and blue with red strip entered into a large black connector box using those (spade style for want of proper term) push fittings. Certainly no white connector with two blue wires hanging out of it that you simply unclip. Couldn't trace anything similar from the ignition switch either and everything was wrapped up tight as with tape
Dont want to stuff around too much with wiring when I dont know too much about it...if it had been as easy or obvious as they said I would have done it but alas no cigar for me I think I'll have to stick with the buzzer maybe I've got the mummy's curse or someone ran out of the right wire when they were putting it together so they used what ever was lying around

Oh yeah, when your groping around under the dash watch out for the yellow connectors. They work the airbag circuits. It's not a good idea to be playing with them with the battery connected.
