Stan,

Just gotta say I love this thread - because you're doing it yourself. Starting with a picture in your head of where it's gonna end up and following it through with paint in your hair and grease under your fingernails.

I like it because I can relate to it - feel sometimes I spend more time under the car than in it, but at least I'm always learning something, and it feels good to finish a job and know you did it, rather than just paid for it.

ROFLMHO.......That girl needs a stern talking to.

Cheers UA. I really appreciate your moral support. But I do have to admit. if I had the money. I'd let a pro do it for me.

Nah - so much fun to be had. If I'd have paid someone to do all the work on Max, I'd still be paying someone else to do all the work on Max.....

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

That's nothing stm, just in a pain of a place to weld.

I should show you the pictures of all the new metal I've welded into the 929... That would scare you

Far out I feel schagged again. That hasn't happened since I married.

But apart from that. Big Day.

I started with removing the weatherstip
Image

and from another angle
Image

Then the final round of rub down with 600 all around.

Then it was time to wash & then to clean it with Wax & grease remover.
Image

Then the agony started
taping off all the bits. what a f#$%ng pain that was. Probably also because I was starting to run out of time & sunshine
Image

Then I tried to jsck the car up & took the wheels off but I nearly stuck disaster. Because the ground is sloped It started leaning & nearly toppeled over onto the chasis without the wheels. I was a little stressed & forgot to take a pic. But the wheels

But it was saved just in time.

Then the school kids had to be picked up & I rushed the bonnet. Took me a while to figure it all out but the bonnet has to be done again tomorrow

But the rest of the car is now Primed.

The front bumper is comming off tomorrow as well to get its seperate treatment.

This is how patchy looks now.
