Help my NA 91 Mazda MX5 boot won't open!

Postby hollycb » Sat Jul 25, 2015 1:37 pm

I recently replaced the rear number plate garnish on my 91 NA MX5 and on closing the boot, the interior release to open the boot including the the key lock will no longer the boot.

Has anyone got any solutions how I can get into my boot without having to drill into the body?

The lock is fine so a locksmith won't solve my problem in this case.

Thanks!
Holly

Lock doesn't have to be US to require a locksmith - they can open functioning locks.
However, if you don't want to pay for a locksmith, & you don't want to drill the beaver panel, then try going in from under the boot, as there should be one or more plastic plugs you can push in for access. Only thing that might still be in the way is the boot carpet if fitted, but it can be pushed aside as long as there's nothing on top of it.
