Hey guys, my drivers' side door latch is squeaking incessantly whenever I go over a small bump.
I've checked that it's not any of the seals/plastic bump stop things around the door will, but I'm 99% sure it is the actual latch in the door. Ive sprayed the bajesus out of it with silicon spray, as well as lubing up the metal ring/catch that it clamps onto.
Is it work trying to take the latch assembly out of the door and soaking it in some sort of lubricant/WD40/other?
In the case that it is the 1% alternative and that it isn't the latch, any suggestions on what it could be? At first I thought it was one of the soft top hinges, but then realised that it was most noticeable when I shut the door the last 2-3cm. If I elbow the door while driving I can replicate the sound as well.
Any thoughts?

Re: Squeaking door latch
When you say that it happens when you shut the door the last 2-3cm, do you mean that it squeaks as you close the door? If so it can't be the latch because it's not engaged at that point.
If you've got some cash I'd try the garage star delrin door stopper things. Apparently they are excellent at stopping door squeaks and rattles, cure all sorts of diseases and in some cases were found to end world hunger.

Check what adjustments there are eg on B pillar. Check the other door and check if there is play in the door ie hold the open door and see if there is up and down movement. Don't load up with grease or oil as this can end up on clothes.

Re: Squeaking door latch
If I hold the door handle open and shut the door, it makes the squeaking noise but at about 1/4 volume. Tried wrapping the door stopper in electrical tape but to no avail. Also rotated the door sill catch 180 degrees just in case...don't even know why I bothered. The passenger door doesn't make the noise and appears to have very similar panel gaps/alignment to the drivers door.
Those garage star delrin stoppers sound like a godsend....but at $80+ I would rather try a cheaper solution first.

Re: Squeaking door latch
I'd be checking everything is all tight etc, if a bolt or something has vibrated loose it can cause noises.
I'd also be looking at other possibilities.
Are you sure it's not the door trim? it might be rubbing on the corner of the dash or something, or may even be rubbing on the inner door skin.
I'd just pull the door trims off and see if the noise is still there, at least to narrow it down (removing them is a pretty simple job)
While they're off you'll also be able to see better from the inside and might spot a rub point.
Also check things like the windows etc, over time the runners can wear and the window can rattle and squeak.

Re: Squeaking door latch
Plastic window rollers inside the doors wear out and rattle on the rails. Dunno whether they squeak. Dunno whether replacements are still available. You could try some white lithium grease on them.

I've had the door trim off to install new speakers and couldn't find anything loose in there. The squeak is pretty much right at my elbow when I rest it on the door skin. Maybe I'll try some felt tape over the little plastic bump stop things and see if that makes any difference.
