Yes, but it looks like they might actually work...
Because reasons.

Almost every suggestion made so far is not suitable to the OP.

I've done all the research, googled up plenty of pics, and I like this;

I'd like the same (but fewer) vents, nearer the hump. Cut out the bracing, cut the vents, weld/glue the bracing back in, paint.
My NA has a Nissan engine so runs quite warm. I don't like bolt in vents and want something subtle and effective.
So, which hot rodding garage cuts vents in Melbourne?

Here's a list that includes most of the rod shops in Victoria.

http://www.classicgarage.com.au/HotRod/Businesses/

Maybe contact whichever one is nearest to you and see if they can do it, and if not, who they can recommend.
The last classic car show I was at I remember there were a few cars there advertising what you want, I just can't remember any names.

Castlemaine Rod Shop are great, and they've been in the business for years.

Dad used to get parts from them back when he did up cars.

Bruce,
Castlemaine is an hour and a half up the Freeway or you could freight it. Rod Hadfield 5472 2853. I don't know if he is still working but he will put you on the right track.
Greg.
When you turn your car on, does it return the favour?

Rang Castlemaine. They want drug money to do it. I will follow up others.
