AGI Precision Rollbar Installation Problem

Postby Dehamsta » Mon Nov 17, 2014 8:38 pm

Hi, this is more of a question to those who have installed an AGI roll bar.
The problem is the holes in the back stays (the largest ones) do not appear to line up with the holes i've drilled into the body above.
Anyone experience this problem and how did you resolve it?
BTW it's on an NA6.
Cheers peoples.

Do you mean, the back stays towards the rear of the car, or the section directly behind the seat?

The ones that are directly behind the seats. Sorry for the confusion I might of got the terms mixed up.

I found it pretty difficult to get the top and bottom holes aligned. In my case, I ended up enlarging the lower holes from below to allow the bolts enough movement to engage with the nuts welded into the plate. This was not an elegant solution!

Having a long series drill bit helped, but it was still very awkward.

I agree it was pretty painful to install when compared to the mx5plus bar - I also didn't like the top bar so close to my head. Not safe for road use.

I also had the same problem, had to enlarge bottom holes.

Also before you install the rollbar, make sure you replace your fuel pump if needed and any worn seatbelts before hand, as it is a PITA to take it out each time (i had a dying fuel pump and frayed seatbelts when i installed mine).

I found that it helps to remove any seam sealer which prevents the feet from resting flatly on the bulkhead behind the seats.

How is your head? Does it hit the bar?

Nope but it's about 10cm away from the bar. However, I'm not a tall guy ~173cm.
