Rear Lip + Mud Guards

Hi guys,
Just wondering if anyone has any info about fitting the rear under-bumper lip whilst still keeping the mud guards in place?

I think I'll have to cut the rear lip to do it, but thought someone may have done it before and could share hints/tips!

If you run decent offset wheels it'll be bloody obvious to cops behind you that you've increased the track if the wheels are sitting an inch+ proud of the outer edge of the mudguard flappy things

I'm not sure about fitting, however I am wondering where you bought the rear lower lip from? I have been struggling to find one available. Any info would be great. Thanks

I bought it off a member here as he was parting out the good bits from his car before selling it!

Alfadog,

You need to trim the rear lip, soo you can fit it without removing the mudguards. Do a search on miata.net, or clubroadster.net, you should find enough information on what needs to be done.

Maybe just take off the mudflaps? It'll look a lot tougher then.

Ryan, yup, I did that and got the templates somebody used to do the same thing.

The car has had a respray thus I can't just take the mudguards off (they didn't take them off for the respray). I'm going to see if I can find a panel shop to see if anyone can fix it up for me... without respraying the whole panel.

I have manages to find a rear lip from NZ which hopefully should land within a week and then I will get stuck into it ASAP

Hi Samuel,
Here is a link to the files I was given.

I did not try it out in the end. I decided I'll wait until I get a front lip and wheels, then get the areas under the rear mud flaps painted and fit the rear lip without modifying it.

Make sure you let us know how you go with yours though! I hope the template files help.

where can i get this lip from? also i'd be interested to see photos of one on a car without the mudflaps.

yeah I think I will have a go at modifying the mud guards, I'm going to get the rear lip and front lip painting when I get the hardtop done so I should look like a pretty clean job. Plus I don't mind the look and practicality of having the mud flaps. And if they do get butchered the guards are an easy thing to replace anyhow.

Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone knows about installing the rear lip, it arrived today from NZ (www.mx5mart.co.nz) as a second hander. It looks pretty much in great condition, however, it didn't arrive with any clips or screws.

I haven't had a chance to get underneath the car as yet and check out the set up, the lip has a tab on it (no hole) that looks like it would probably get a screw or similar. I know when I installed the front lip that it had just a few clips and a couple of self tapping screws for the install.

Just looking for some insight if anyone knows until I get the chance check it out.

Also, what do you recommend I cut up the mudguards up with, just file it away gently or go a little for aggressive and use a cutter with a bit of power

looks like I will be getting the dremel out onto the guards after all. I removed the guards today and I like the look of the car with the guards on a fair bit more.

Also if I was to keep the guards off, I reckon I will need to fill the holes and give them a paint anyway, to make it look clean. So I may as well chop up the guards.

Anyone want to share their photos of a NA with the rear lower lip spoiler installed with and without the rear mud guards.

I have just bought a 2nd hand spoiler and trying to decide to delete or keep the mud guards.
