Robbins Zip Glass Top & MX5+ Tall Boy

Postby zephyrus17 » Sun Apr 07, 2013 6:48 pm

I have the single diagonal MX5+ Roll bar and I'm planning to get the Robbins Soft top 2964. It's the one with non-heated glass and zippered, so I can get the best of 3 worlds. But I'm wondering if the roll bar will cause any problem with the glass or stress the glass when the roof is lowered with the glass still zipped on. Anyone have personal experience?

I had a Robbins no-zip glass window soft top in my previous 5, and a MX5 plus twin hoop roll bar. There were no fitment issues. However, I suspect zipping the window is going to be a bitch due to the weight of the glass and confined space you will have to work in.

Just my thoughts.

I'm with Juffa, had a zippered glass top on my old NA6 with a style bar and it was a pain to do,almost needed 3 hands to avoid putting too much strain on the zipper!
If you can live without having the top up rear window down set up my advice would be to go zipperless,so much easier to put up and down.

I guess with the Robbins zip top, to unzip I'd still have to open the front 2 latches?

There goes my ideal scenario of satisfying my girlfriend and me...
