Guage Rings

Probably already asked and answered but; how hard is it to fit guage rings to an NA8 instrument cluster?

It'll take you about 5mins to take the cluster unit out. There's been quite a few write-ups of this in the forum so have a quick search ;)

After that, it's a matter of removing the clear plastic at the front and then replace the gauge rings with the aftermarket ones. Some glue will be required.

Wear gloves if you don't like leaving any marks.

NB yes, on the NA I think it's a little more complicated.


I think on the NA the clear screen is glued to the black gauge bezel, where the NB the clear part just clips on.

I have done this to both the NA's I have owned 2 things you need to be careful with.
If you still have the original meter surround chances are high it will be very brittle,on my 1st NA it fell apart in my hand with very little force when I was taking it off.
Removing the clear plastic gauge cover can be tricky, I used a sharp knife to cut the glue, take it slow & don't pull at it unless you have run the knife through most of the glue.
Well worth the effort in my opinion the finished job looks great.

Another hint from my model car making days.

Don't be tempted to use superglue to put the clear plastic back on.

Superglue fumes will basically stick to the clear plastic and make it go all ugly and opaque (and not just where the glue is, basically anywhere the fumes reach as it dries)
