you simply will not get any answer from any business on the net or on the phone. even for my side skirts, i can not find a definite answer as they want to see the actual item before even giving a ballpark figure.. my 2cs

Are we talking about a full paint job, or just an exterior. By full I mean the engine bay and inside the boot?
Give Dick Richey at Oven Baked Enamel (aka The MX5 Factory) a call. He is in Ringwood and has worked on many MX-5s, including the 3 that I have owned. Phone 987 00520. As a guide line I paid around $2,200 for a full external respray, mind you it was in the original colour.
The other way...and much much cheaper is to do it yourself as another member of this forum has done. Just need to find the thread.

Re: Paint Quote
agreed no one will give you a credible quote without seeing the car. Your choice but the paint choice may effect the value of the car. The MX5 factory Ringwood can give you a price

Re: Paint Quote
If you are looking for a matt black paint job, might I suggest that you don't actually paint it, but use a "stick-on" finish instead?
These are special sheets of plastic that are stuck onto the body of the car, and this system is used by many race cars and vans with lots of advertising on them.
If you paint your car in matt black, it will show every little scratch and dent, and will be very hard to keep looking good, whereas the stickers are quite abrasion resistant, and when you get sick of it, just peel it away!
The cost would be around $3K or so to get it done and it can be done in a day and you won't need to do much to prepare the car beforehand, so you will save money.
If you do go this way, you can also have some custom graphics, stripes or whatever you want printed onto the plastic sheeting for little extra cost.

For anyone else that's looking for an estimate, work on $250-$300 per panel.

If anyone knows someone on the Gold Coast or Brisbane that does decent work for around this money, I'd appreciate it.
I couldn't get a quote under $4000 in Sydney before I moved up here.
Cheers
