So you have to source it yourself?
I am sure they can supply but I had already bought mine,so it was fit only.

They have done a couple of mates window replacements and have done a fabulous job.

Hi all!

Just updating this thread for currency.

I just ordered a vinyl soft top from the UK. A no name brand European made hood from The Car Trimming Company:

It seems pretty good!

I had it fitted by Tony McConnell of 'Classic and Sports' in Eltham. Tony responded quickly to my email enquiry and I stopped in met him also. He looked professional and seemed very trust worthy.

classicandsports.com.au

He charged $440 and looks to be good job. A little slack at the bottom of one side of the window but not to bad.

The cheapest quote elsewhere was $550. The above mention installers - MX5 Factory quoted $600 - Olympus quoted $650. One place quoted $750.

N.B. Installers want to charge more for hoods with a glass window.

ps. My hood has two pea sized bits poking into the hood on the top not too far before it meets the first back cross bar. I am concerned this will wear through. Tony glued some extra bits of padding to the under side but it still seems a concern. Anyone had this problem?

Thats a bit disappointing as Olmypus recently quoted $380 to to remove a top, put in a new window and refit, which would involve more work than you got done.

Perhaps they were wary of the top you were supplying as it always seems that the fitter gets the blame and quoted high?

You shouldn't have slack really, perhaps a slack supplier or installer or a bit of both?

I have had a couple of tops fitted over the years and one was a pretty ordinary top and if it is or the fitter doesn't follow the correct tightening sequence you end up with creases where you described.

After a while I learned to live with my imperfections and as any true MX follower will attest you don't have the top up much!!!

Hope it works out well for you,

Peter.

Perhaps the supplier? But at $480 inc delivery, I am not too fussed! The rest of the top is very taught! It was the first thing I noticed when I picked it up. Much more so than the custom one on it. Of course, it would have slackend a bit after 13 years though. Perhaps the installer? The bit of slack that there is, is not that bad. Overall, I am very happy!

Tony dried out the water catchment and carpets. It rained a little today and she appears to be thoroughly water proof! Need to wait for a bigger downpour to confirm that though!

Cheers!

For those who are interested, Spiros of Olmypus also has (2-3 weeks ago now) a repaired slashed soft top which he offered to install for $1200. It seemed like a good deal!

if the top is not sufficiently taut in all places the fitter I am sure would take another look at it to see if any adjustments are possible. If there is a problem in the pattern it might not be rectifiable.
