Windscreen Chips Easily

Postby DiscoAtom » Mon May 09, 2011 3:29 pm

I haven't had my NC MX-5 for long and I find in that short space of time, I have accummulated 3 small chips on the windscreen. I wonder if all sports cars have this problem?

Pretty much, your windscreen is right were a "normal" car bonnet is, so all the stones and other crap the car in front of you throws up goes into your windscreen.
My 04 has at least 30 small tiny chips in the windscreen.

Mmmm...dosn't look good, so it won't be long before my windscreen becomes translucent! Might have to start moving my head to find a clear windscreen space to look out off!!

I'm on my 3rd NC windscreen and it's already had a big chipped fixed as well.
Only 38000km on the clock too - this thing must be a rock magnet.

Never had to replace a windscreen in a dozen odd cars over the last 24 years either.

Easier chipping, if correct, surely has to be related to the windscreen. Are they still Japanese manufacture from OE? Somebody may have some inside info and perhaps there is a windscreen less susceptible to chipping.
