Guard blinkers

Postby xhonda_boy » Fri May 28, 2010 6:52 pm

Hey guys and girlies

I just ran into a weird dilemma here,
I have a late 93 mx5 shell that I'm building at the moment, anyways the guard blink slots are rectangle.. and I have guard indicators from a late 92 model NA and the base of the blinker is circular... WTF?
And looking back at my progress build of the 2 cars I noticed they have different bases.

Pics below..

Is it an import?

Pretty sure mine is circular. '96.

not that it's any help, but NB is circular as well.

The red Na is AUS delivered, same as the teal one.

Just to mess with things further, my NA is 93 and it has circular holes. Not at all helpful, but does your teal one have the extra chassis bracing or the new beaver panel?

I don't think my one had the extra bracing but it does have the new beaver panel..

some markets didn't have side indicators on the front quarter panels. my guess is that a previous owner installed their own for compliance/aesthetic reasons.

the guard aperture is obviously for a different repeater- same function but different housing moulding and lense shape . One of the MX5 stockists maybe able to tell you which repeater fits if its a MX5 type. There are many repeaters than may fit from other vehicles since the design is pretty much standard. MX5 generally use an amber lense and clear bulb but others often use clear lense and amber bulb- with same result.
