Had the police come around last night to inspect the damage. Unfortunately they couldn't do much without CCTV evidence . They couldn't/wouldn't even give me an incident number until the next morning. Instead, hinting to call the Police Assistance Line (131 444) for an immediate incident number.
So I tried a temporarily fix the roof with some gaffa list night. Went through about 5 meters and eventually managed to close the gap. Woke this morning to find the dew/condensation lifted the gaffa off the roof .
93_Clubman: I like the idea of the hardtop. Will run it past the insurance company and see what they say.
philz: Dulwich Hill
Old Dude: Been quoted over the phone about $300
MR5000: On the w/e I'll try to stitch the roof up first, use some glue/sikaflex and patch it up
Weather forecast for the rest of the week - sunny low 20's ... fingers crossed it doesn't rain

You can buy a cheap soft top from eBay for about $300, sealed window. And they go up from there.

Ergh, I only just saw this. Real shame mate.
Earlier today, over at jdmst, I was defending the 5's over slashed tops saying it doesn't happen that often. Well I'm pretty sure it doesn't happen that often but when it happens to you personally, even if it's only once, it's one time too many.

sorry to hear gobsmax...
I had my roof slashed ages back and it's been one of the things that i've been meaning to replace, but so far the marine tape is holding perfect (and every time I end up getting the cash together there is something better to buy to make car go faster!)...
Have swapped the canvas roof for a hard top, and take that off occasionally (not nearly as much as I would have liked!) but i'm putting a +1 vote for the marine tape.

Darius got his repaired in Brisbane
Looks good and cheaper than a replacement.
