NC passenger carpet severe water logging

Postby Fblee » Wed Mar 31, 2010 1:41 am

My NC passenger (left) carpet is completely water logged after last night's rain. I had to remove over 5 litres of water. EVERWHERE else was bone dry.

Lifted up the carpet and found no clues.

Drove it in the pissing rain for 30 mins and alot of water had collected again. Under the passenger's seat.

Anyone give any pointers or advice?

Where are the water channels in the NC? Anyone know?

Thanks guys.

If the car is still under warranty, take it back to the dealer and get them to fix it AND replace the carpet.

If not, well, someone with more experience on the NC should be able to help you.

Pop out the rubber bung in the passenger footwell (it will let all the water out at least).

I'm guessing you have a soft top, if so check the drain holes which are located behind the seat belt top mounts. They could be blocked causing the flooding.
Last time this was discussed, I think someone mentioned a recall affecting the NC's.

There is some info HERE and HERE although the discussion was NA/NB specific, some of the principles apply to the NC.
This one is for the NC HERE

Guys, I've owned my NC for about 2 months now without seeing rain, untill now and yes the passender side carpet is wet
not soaked but a little damp and the car is starting to smell damp.

Without taking it to the dealer is there instructions somewhere on how to flush these drains out as it's about 2 months out of warrenty.

Abit upset about splashing up a sh*t load of money and to have problems already  Not happy.

the dealer is sure to give you advice on what to do-- go and have a chat unless a forumite has nailed it.

Doing alot of searching and it apears to be a problem with the NC's

Found a Mazda Service Bulletin, looks like a big job.

Thank you for directing me to this link. I did it last night. It worked. A heap of crap came out of the drainage. My car is no longer a pool.

Thanks mate.

Thanks guys.
