Number Plate Bracket - MX5 Plus

Postby tuned_to_fly » Thu Jul 31, 2008 10:59 pm

I purchased a number plate bracket (centre mounted) for my NB last weekend and tried to fit it tonight, however where it mounts to the car seems to be about an inch wider then the stock Mazda part. I have tried moving the screws as far over as they will go but it still doesn't look like it will fit.

I'm sure I'm missing something very easy but I just can't see how it will fit...

Anyone able to help?

Cheers

Really? I would have thought something as simple as a number plate bracket would be made to be a direct fit...

It should be fairly close to start with. However, you need to bend it slightly to follow the curve of the face of the front bar. The club Secretary (lady type) put one on her NB8A by herself no probs.

Are you sure someone hasn't "adjusted" the original mounting bracket attachment screws?

As said above; just curve it to fit.

These are made to fit both NA and NB; so they can't bolt on straight out of the box because the shapes of the two models are different.

Alright I'll do that tonight then. Nowhere have I read that you need to bend the bracket to suit but if thats what needs to be done then thats what I shall do.
