Tightening hardtop at frankenstien bolts

Postby spitty » Thu Jul 10, 2008 6:37 pm

As per subject.... I need to tighten the fitting at the frankenstien bolts.
ie' the chrome fittings on the roof itself move up and down a little and, i suspect, are responsible for some of my rattles

Any input would be appreciated. Ta John

Theres a philips head screw on the metalic bits at the back of your hardtop. Look on the inside edge of both (i think) take that screw out, the top part of the metalic piece will pivot across, then you can adjust the 2 bots that hold the C shaped part that grips the Frankenstein bolts.

It will make more sense when you do it.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

There is a plastic coating on the adjusting shims that may have worn through. If it has you can flip the shim over and use the other side. You might also want to check where the soft top latch rests against the stoppers on the hardtop. My car squeaks from there really badly. I use 2 little pieces of cardboard between the latch and the stopper to stop the squeaks.
