the rings must cost about 28 cents to produce tho... were they really that anal about cost cutting ?

Anal enough to replace chromed bolts with normal ones.

I've heard this claim before but I think they were just tying to update the style to a more modern format.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Have you tried opening it up and seeing if you can remove the rings? I would have thought they would be separate pieces?

As for door handles, I think powdercoating would be best!

my aussie 97 NA8 LE has no chrome rings either. i only noticed that they were missing after i bought my car. lol

i just assumed that they deleted the chrome rings the same time they replaced the oil pressure gauge with the idiot light.

dont quote me on this but when i cut the plastic lense off my cluster to put the chrome surround in.. im sure my rings did come off.. (re-glued them back on though).. maybe find a wrecked early NA?
