A-Pillar Gauge holder for NB??

Postby ASE05 » Sat Jul 21, 2007 2:14 pm

Anyone point me in the direction of where to get 'em?

I've found plenty for the NA and only LHD for the NB and it's making me feel like this

you'll be hard pressed finding any! for our side of the car anyway!

best bet would be a universal fit one but these are mainly for bigger cars with bigger pillars!

I ended up getting carbon gauge pods to put them in was much easier!

I can't find any either, perhaps someone with a HyperRev can help.

OR if there's some way to legally remove your passenger airbag.

This is the mutt's nuts

or there is also the ugly option..

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

you could always make your own
I know it sounds crazy but looking at how some people make custom speaker mounts it can't be that hard can it

The other option is that you have 4 air vent holes at your disposal, they support 2\" 1/16 gauges very nicely and the modification is completly reversible.

If i remember, i'll have a look next time i'm picking up parts from my supplier. I'm sure he has a Hyper Rev for MX5's. If not, i'll put one in with my next order!

Hmmmmm, you guys are hopeless

Okibi - I've seen all those and the cover over the dash pod almost has me except I have 2 gauges I wanna put in and......damn that trio on the dash is ugly :!: The airbag would be a great option but as you state, I don't think it's legal and I dunno if the missus would be real keen on airbag removal anyhow.....

Blackster - Two chances I'm loosin' the inaffectual ball vents with our bloody summers in BNE!!

lowmiata - you got any shots of your setup?

SM - I'm seriously considering this option of custom made but I can only imagine there would be more $$$ involved than a pre-fab kit!!??

RaceSupplies - If you can find something I don't reckon I'd be the only one to be keen on getting some ready made ones.

I wonder if it'd be worthwhile getting in touch with some local guys that knock these up for the more common cars??

Hey Okibi,

Where did you see this? Do you know if they have one that has the gauge on the right hand side?

PS. Just saw the URL for your pix, so I'm assuming they are from MX5mad.com.

If you like the dash cowling pod, and want two gauges, this might address your query....

It's from our friends @ Garage Vary. I've seen a few bits n pieces of theirs in the flesh and the quality seem excellent.

Yeah but this:

Image

makes your dash look like mickey mouse.

I'm sure someone has a pillar gauge mount for the NB or you could make a universal one work.

Or do what i'm doing and put a single din 3 gauge holder in.

I hear what your sayin there re MM looks but I still don't mind it. That shot reminds me of another interior but I just can't put me finger on what car!?!

If there was a prefab for the pillar I'd grab it in an instant and I've already had a crack with a universal one and wasn't happy with the result. I've had my girl since she was showing 000012km and I've been completely anal with keeping looking as good as it did when I collected that fateful February afternoon in 2005 8)  Ergo, everything needs to fit like OEM 8) . The single din gauge aint an option either as the stocko headunit is staying.
