roll cage/bar installation help rollbar rollcage

Postby lam.666 » Sat Apr 21, 2007 6:15 pm

hi,

did a search but didnt find anything apart from the style bar thread, but i just picked up a roll cage/bar and would like to know if anyone has any tips on installation...

only thing is that i dont want to molest the carpet.. does everyone just drill through it?

also would i need to remove the soft top in order to install it?

i've been told that it fits under a soft/hard top.

any help appreciated.

cheers

what sort of roll bar is it?

If it is similar to the brown davis you wont need to remove the hood or the carpet

rules state there cant be anything flamibale etc between the bar and the body ie plastic trim or carpet

you can leave about 10mm of carpet under the flanges so the carpet stays down

carpet and trim is cut away on mine only place i didn't cut the carpet was under the big plate that goes right across the back
but ther is no bolt fittings in this location anyway

main thing really depends on what type of bar it is

ie does it go into the boot?
and right down behind the seats?

fi its a BD it wont have either of the above

thanks ryan,

i have no idea what brand of bar it is, its not a BD, but was told that its a cams approved bolt in...

to my understanding most cams cages need to be welded?

anyways... the main hoop bar is positioned behind the seats, and then it has two bolt on bars which extend and attach to the parcel/rear shelf

when your talking about rules, those are CAMS rules ur talking about?

The following link will give you a photographic guide to intalling a Brown Davis bar in both NA and NB models, assuming this is what you are fitting. Enjoy!

Cams and DOT
as long as it doesn't have side intrusion bars on the cage ie going to the dash board otherwise it sounds fine

can be bolted in for cams as the BD is, unless the rules have changed

Pretty sure you will find that cams no longer allows many bolt ins at all except for the BD bar for eg which you must have the cams certificate when you get the bar, that said, if you are doing any cams event, unless it is stated in the supp regs, you can use any bar at all.
