Surface scratches...best way to tackle?

Was reversing out of the garage after my dad had gone out and he shut the garage door (either on purpose or by accident...that's another story). As such the bootlid now has a series of surface scratch marks that are very fine but still very noticeable...

What's the best way to tackle them? What products or methods have you guys used?

Also....my antenna has been bent oddly out of shape....I've tried twisting and clamping it back straight but it still looks fugly. Any ideas? The antenna base is also twisted backwards, would I have to dissemble the whole thing from inside the boot to fix this?

Wait, so you reversed into the door and managed to get scratches on TOP of the bootlid?

clay won't take out the scratches.... clay removes impurities from the surface of the paint.

if the scratches are really that fine, maybe you can try applying some Scratch X and see how it goes

Hmm Scratch X sounds like the way to go. Is that the Meguiar's one?

Yeh our garage door is one of those weird ones that dont come straight down....it's a complete metal mesh thing that retracts at an angle...if that makes any sense...lol

I tried some normal polish just then to see if it does anything but it didnt seem to have improved it. But the Scratch X sounds good, might try that thanks

Maybe a random orbital sander with buffing/polishing pads is the way to go if you want a perfect mirror finish

Deez, try Maguiars Scratch X.. That works quite well even though it looks like a cream. Most people at Autobarn and Supercheap would recommend it, and it's not too expensive.. About $25 or so. OR try these guys http://www.touchuppaint.com.au/

My $0.02: Scratch X will do nothing unless you have an random orbital and an abrasive pad. If your going to go to the effort of using an orbital, then skip the Supercheap products and use the good stuff - I would try Poorboys SSR2, followed up with a decent hand-applied wax.
