Windscreen water nozzles stopped working

Postby Andy Wana » Wed Apr 11, 2007 11:22 pm

Fellow forumites,

Both my MX5's water nozzles decided to stop working a couple of days ago
I thought it might just be an empty water reservoir, but it wasn't
I am thinking it might be a faulty stalk, but the windscreen wipers still work OK

Do you think it might be calcium build up? or something else?
Anyone had experienced this before?

Can't hear the washer motor since I've only used the wipers when the car was moving (MX5 cabin can get a little noisy), so I might give that one a go

In the past, the wipers will go first before the nozzles spray the water onto the windscreen

There could be dirt or crap of some description in the lines, or in the pickup for the pump...

i actually thought mine stopped working once before, then found that before it would squirt had to have the wipers on first. down one click then pull left stalk towards you i think it is

Turns out that there was nothing wrong with the nozzles
Just needed a little TLC to get it running again ...
Inspected the plastic straw-like bits ... gave it a bit of sucking action ... and voila ... works again

There's nothing like a bit of sucking to get the action happening.

If you're doing it to your washer tubes though, DON"T SWALLOW!!
