As you can see below, Garry is the expert on window lube Monsqueek... at least I think he was using it on his windows... :shock:

AFIK he simply removed the door trims and sprayed lube on the moving parts. Maybe he can clarify for you?

take the tracks out.
I cleaned very thoroughly with turps.
then lubricated them with stuff similar to what Garry is showing.

Its lasted more than 6mths so far.

It sounds like the state that invented dodgy days... needs one!

That's the stuff to use alright. You can get away without taking the tracks out if you don't clean them and instead spray the grease in. It's preferable to clean them though.

You don't have to remove the cabling or anything like that - you'd just be pulling the tracks from the door. If you're familiar with it it's straightforward but if not it's best to leave it and get someone to get their bum into gear and organise a dodgy day.

Need to install my fog lights, paint my valve cover and reinstall with chrome dome bolts and do some work on my brakes, apart from that all is good.

I am in for a dodgy day.
I have a few things to do, lube passenger side window runners, timing belt, and water pump. I think that just about covers it.
I have a pretty well equiped workshop and am prepared to host depending on numbers. Don't have that much space if there are too many people.

I also have the factory workshop manual for NA MX5's.

Well I guess that would be me since there do not appear to be any other offers.
7/1/07 would be the first weekend I am available as I am in Qld over New Years.
I have pretty much any hand tools you could need.
Pretty good supply of power/air tools as well.
Got a couple of hydraulic jacks and a couple of sets of axle stands.
I also have an engine crane if anyone needs to take on something that serious.
I am lacking in drill bits as my good set got stolen so if any drilling needs to be done (roll bar fitments, etc) I suggest you bring the size you need.

If you can bring the tools for the job you want to do it will make life easier, happy to supply tools if you can't.
If you want to do any servicing you must take waste oils/fluids with you.
I am more than happy to assist with any jobs on the day but will be reasonably busy with the timing belt/water pump on my car. Once that is done I can assist with anything, and I mean anything ;)
I normally choose to avoid the crappy, dirty jobs.

I will be visiting my parts supplier next week so if anyone needs any bits let me know, I normally get pretty good prices.

Importantly I also have a bbq. If people want to byo meat I can prob organise a salad and some bread or something.

Let me know who is keen so I can get an idea on numbers.

The main track comes out in one piece and is not as hard as it appears. Off memory, dissassemble as follows:
* Take off door handles (2 x phillips screws underneath) and take off door latch trim.
* Unclip Door trim off but be very carefull you don't pull the plastic clips out of the door trim!
* Wind window half way up and you wil see at the base of the window through an opening in the door a clip that holds the window in place with screws. Undo the screws and pull window frame out from the top.
* The main window rail unbolts from underneath the door (2 x screws). I can not remember if there any other screws.

At this point you could just leave the rail in and just spray the rails with them still inside the door. Give yourself about 1 1/2 hours tops to do all this for a first timer.
