Removal Front Bumper / Headlights

Postby pluto » Wed Sep 13, 2006 9:17 pm

I'm planning a project on my NB8B SP requiring removal of my after-market (SP Motorsport) airbox, which seems impossible without first taking out the left headlight. Can anyone help out here? There are the obvious two bolts atop the unit, but some hidden attachment still holds it in place. Is it just a lug that will release with coercion, or a hidden bolt?

Also, I will soon be removing the front bumper for mods and a repaint. Can anyone explain, in words of one syllable or less, how to achieve this? I've located the two bolts at either side attaching to the guards, but where do I go from here? Some have suggested that the intercooler may be an obstacle, but I can't see how...

Any pointers will be greatly appreciated ... I've been in this situation before, where proceeding blindly invariably leads to broken componentry.

The intercooler stays in place but there are sundry other little bolts and clip thingos holding it all together. From memory you'll need to remove the clips holding the inner guards onto the bumper cover as well as the bolts holding the splash shield on underneath and the ones holding the silver radiator cover thingy under the bonnet. It was a right PITA and it's easier with 2 people because it's a bit awkward to manage alone.

Thanx Garry,

I've already removed all the inner/lower hidden panels, but I thought that the bumper would be held on by more than just the end guard bolts and 'silver radiator cover thingy'. :?: But I will proceed further after this Sunday's track day. Cheers

PS Does anyone know of a workshop manual that may have some schematics illustrating panel fitment?

Here is a picture from the parts diagrams which may help a bit.

JBT, that's excellent. Thanx v much. I'll put it to good use.
Mine, of course, is actually an NB8B, but, apart from the foglights, I wouldn't expect much difference.
Cheers.
