Ebay Style Bar Modifications

Postby arnimaniacs » Fri Aug 25, 2006 12:33 pm

After so many frustrated unsuccessful and failed attempts to fit the ebay style bar ($160AUD delivered) to my NA 93 model, I took it to a local welder and had it modified.

Originally the bar fits great without the extra rear bolts/nuts but the only problem was the passenger hoop was a bit too high, touching the soft-top and unable to latch the hardtop securely.

Here is the result, the bar is much lower than original and clear both soft and hard-tops without any problem.

Ma64rk on the forum has no problem with his NB hardtop so I guess its only the early model NA.

Mine went on fine, with a couple of millimetres clearance for each.
1990 "TOY MX5" - Red, of course!
Kings, Konis, LSD, Genie system, grille, Voodoo knob, braces, 14 degrees ATDC, woodgrain dash, style bars and lots of work making the rubber bands go around faster.

Are those checkerplate rubber mats in your car?? If so, where did you get them from to fit the narrow width of an MX5?

Ours fits our 89 no worries. The quality control on these things is terrible, you just got a bad one.

Oh I see. Damn. A friend had a set from Supercheat Auto ages ago but they were too wide for my car :?
