Been pulled over three times by the Boys in Blue since having the roll bar and not once have they even flinched at the thing. Depends on the cop though. :)

To answer the thread question: I think it has to have an engineer's certificate/plate to be strictly legal.

Yeah... Im thinking about getting a polished alloy BD Roll Bar, but they are so pricey from Mania :(

Yeah, that's right. CAMs only approve the steel version. Not only does it need to be steel but it also has to sit at least 2 inches above your head.

None of this is applicable if you're not competing. A bit off topic though. :)

Apparently BD make a taller bar for CAMS approval, but you can't put the roof up unless you serioisly modify it (there was a pic of a racing 5 at wakefield on here the other day with a wedge shaped soft top that covered the bar, so it can be done, but it is butt ugly!). If you are going for road use talk to Red Baron - he was wanting to sell his alloy bar for the cost of a steel one a while back.
I haven't had any hassles with the police over my alloy BD, but then I don't attract the attention that Bevan does :roll: :roll: :roll:

None of the pull overs resulted in fines, I wasn't breaking any rules! Just accelerating hard and cornering, well, you know. :mrgreen:

Two were unmarked cars, a Magna... :roll: and an XR6. The knob in the Magna was complaining how I was getting away from him. Didn't even know he was behind me trying to keep up! :lol:

And about the points thing... :oops: Lost 10 in one year a few years ago so i've been driving withing street limits but still trying to have a bit of fun. Bring on May 9 2007! :mrgreen:

some people have been made to pad their bars with foam and cable ties or tape.


i'd hang out on that group buy till CAMS sort them selves out
