Anyone dismantled their hardtop to install roof lining?

Hello,

I'd like to put in roof lining on my hardtop. I was thinking the kind of felt that is used on pool tables but black...maybe camel brown colour...

Has anyone ever pulled apart their hardtop on the inside to put in roof lining? Is it hard to do?

cant come apart
its fibreglass reinforced plastic? and some sort of forming process ie there is no real inside parts to it

I have settled for just putting vynil across the roof and just get some piping (uphulsterers) and push it into the grove

I was thinking of using that stick on felt (it might be \"contact\" brand like you cover books with) you can buy it from bunnings.

Then it will be nice and thin and self adhesive.

I used a pad of high density black foam stuff from Clark rubber. It's main use is to quieten engine noise in engine bays so it's resistant to just about everything found in a car. It reduces the echoey noise with the hardtop on and feels soooo good. Looks good too though it's hard to cut it out nice and neat to fit. It's available in several thickness. I used 5mm in my NA but switched to 3mm for the SP as it came fitted with the povo looking Mazda liner already. It's not real cheap but around $40 will be enough to do one hardtop.

Perhaps try having your hood lined with black speaker box carpet... contact adhesive will hold it up...

there is some stuff that is used on the flooring of the skiffs called gorilla grip (i think) prob the same stuff on wind surfer boards etc you can buy it on a roll and comes sticky back already

would greatly reduce noise etc and would mould to the shape of your roof

obviously hardest part is getting it to stay there as the roof gets pretty darn hot!
