You can buy a black tinitng paint called might shades from most auto parts stores.

Spray it lightly on the inside of the lense so the outside stays shiney. If you spray it too heavily you will never see the lights illuminate through it, which is when you'll probably run into problems with the cops/rta.
When results speak for themselves - don't interrupt.

Not wanting to rant here....but I get very annoyed when I see any car that has had the rear lights tinted to a point where you cannot see the brake or indicator lights. It's not just illeagal, its down right dangerous !

Jsut reading throught he ADR rules.. like everyone does....

the tinting appears to be legal as long as the light emitted from the lenses is at a particular intensity.

so if the lenses are tinted, the globes have to be upgraded to emmit the right intensity of light.

ADR 49/00
Section 6 - Intensity of Light Emitted

Section 7 - Test procedure (an interesteing read)

If you do it, get the modification certified and complied and there should be no problem with insurance.

You can tint them to a point where they look black but you can still see the lights clearly...you've just gotta figure out the right tint
