Read the bloody regs ...

... and the 2F regs say ... ? :?

If you are buiding a 2F car, that is your bible. Having built a 2F car, I'm pretty sure the answer is in there (it was when I logbooked mine >10 years ago).

It's been a while for me, so I'll leave it to you to do some homework on the current regs. Whatever anyone here or elsewhere tells you, it is your responsibility to know the regs you will be submitting the car under. /sermon

Good luck, and have fun. I found the building was almost as much fun as the competition.

I never met a horsepower I didn't like (thanks bwob)

The 2f rules don't say you can replace glass with another material, or remove the glass, therefore you can't. 2b allows removal of glass, and therefore, replacement with plastic if you wish to put weight back in.

So at least you can save some time and money by leaving the glass where it is.

I think this is the relevant section from the 2F rules...

2.6 MODIFICATIONS
Any aspect relating to the construction, modification and/or preparation of the vehicle, which is not specifically
authorised in the present regulations, is forbidden.

Thanks for your constructive feedback SilllC and CrazyRacer - value your interpretation of the rules to compare against my interpretation - always helpful to get others constructive feedback on things like regulations from those that have previous experience - especially after reading the rules and regs and not being sure if your interpretation is correct or not.

One hint when it comes to interpreting rules for a race series:

Go to a race where the class you are building for is running and have a look at the cars. It most cases you'll soon see what is allowed. At least for obvious stuff like glass versus polycarbonate. The 'cheats' will not be obvious in most cases.
