MX5 wins Unlimited RWD at US Super Lap Battle

We are the 2017 Super Lap Battle Unlimited RWD champions. We took our Maxxis Supermiata Cup S1 race car and did a quick conversion for this event. We fabricated a crude but effective front splitter the size of Kansas. 10mm Alumalite and some bits of aluminum from Home Depot. Wing was a standard APR GT-1000 we had in the shop. Unlimited RWD allows far more modifications. We frankly didn't think we stood a chance at a podium let alone the outright win against some of the high dollar equipment we were up against. Because of the success of this simple build, we have decided to build an entirely new car from the ground up to take full advantage of the rules for 2018.
This is our winning lap of 1:44.983. This is the fastest a Miata has ever gone at this track by several seconds. A few weeks later we went back with stiffer springs and older tires, did a 1:44.69. This is about 1.5s shy of the Porsche GT3 cup car record on this track.
BP4W stock head, forged everything. Same flow as a stock engine, just more robust.
Trackspeed Engineering EFR6258 turbo system running 16psi on E85 for 300whp
245/40/15 Hoosier A7's
Supermiata BGK with Xida Race 1100/500 rates
Supermiata tuned OS Giken 3.9
That's about it. Not exotic, just very well balanced and easy for the driver to extract all its performance potential.
