Dunno. You do know about the BD version?

You need to say whether you want the top to operate, that may/will make a difference.

When these first came out that was my first thought/question. On looking it over, I though the best solution would be to build a proper half-cage, then gut the folding mechanism and replace it with a frame to which the panels could be attached, turning the car into a fixed roof coupe. I don't know anyone who has done that, most of the racers seem to pick the softtop and put a hardtop on it.

Safety with weight saving FTW!

It's not for me. My nav/co-driver in the Targa High Country Tour has a NC.
Mine came from Dan with a welded in cams approved half cage and Deckspeed carbon fibre hardtop and no softop nor mechanism.
Steve was just wondering about a half cage for his car in Brisbane.

A member of the mx5 club in wa has a folding hardtop with a half cage. The top has been modified so its bolt on/bolt off. Its a 2 person 5 minute job. The hinges have been welded and the window fixed with a sealant. Without the need for the folding motion it has a lot of room for a half cage. The cage was custom made. Its the only solution for a decent cage in a powered hard top.
