Hey guys,
I'm in the midst of installing a Brown Davis Roll Bar on an NB8A and have hit a snag when it comes to fitting the additional 'B' pillar bolts and nuts.
The bar has a fabricated hole which lines up with one of the fixing points for the wind deflector. The bolt that came with the bar is much larger than the nut for the wind deflector fixing. The instructions appear to indicate that you are suppose to drill-out the existing wind deflector fixing in order to install the larger bolt and nut for the roll bar however, I then have no way to re-install the wind deflector despite the instructions stating the next step as "re-fit the wind deflector"?
Am I suppose to drill out the existing wind deflector fixing in order to fit the roll bar?
Thanks for any help. I can ring Brown Davis during the week but was really hoping to get the bar installed today.

Unfortunately the photos in the second link (or at least the thread it references) are no longer visible.
Has any one cable tied their windblocker to their BD bar and got some photos that they could share?

Yes, you drill out the captive nut for the wind deflector to fit the bar. Cable tying the deflector back in afterwards is easy. Not near my car to photograph it for you, but experiment, it's only a couple of cable ties

Drill it out for the BD bar, and in future if you want to refit the windblocker you can simply put a nut on the back of the blocker bolt.
The top blocker bolts hold it well enough that the blocker doesn't move.
I've done the same thing with my nb after I sold my BD bar

I have a couple of beautifully made stainless brackets for exactly this use. PM me your mobile number and I'll send you a pic.

Re: HELP! Brown Davis Installation on NB8A
Thanks guys.
Within the links I found a reference to an installation guide written by a member of the SA MX5 club which had a lot more detail than the BD installation manual.
Now I've just got to work out how to fit the mounting plate for the parcel shelt bolts! Doesn't even come close to sitting flush with the underside of the shelf due to exisiting captive nuts and folds in the panelling. Tempted to have two plates fabricate to get a good solid mount.

Re: HELP! Brown Davis Installation on NB8A
I had the same issue with the plates on mine.
I trimmed them to fit.
Apparently BD didn't think that bit out when making he bars for the NB
