It looks like it is at the last turn before the main straight.

According to the raceway’s website, the track was being used by a company that offers 'hot laps' in a Porsche.

Awful.
Just awful.

That track is really getting a bad name now.

If it is a "hot laps" scenario, i bet this will affect the other companies running them.

Oh Sorry JBT, i stupidly thought it was Lakeside.
Blame it on my NSWness.

Oh it was a Hot Lap session.

A PROFESSIONAL male driver sitting in the passenger seat of a car being dríven around the Queensland Raceway near Ipswich has died after the car hit a wall and burst into flames.

The passenger, 26, is believed to have been killed on impact at the track at Willowbank.

The 20-year-old Brisbane man driving the car was pinned in the wreckage from the waist down for three hours after the crash at 11.30am.

He was to be airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital after 2.30pm in a stable condition.

The track had been hired for a private event and the car was a private vehicle.

Even with lakeside.

If you want to educate people by displaying injury rates at tracks, cool, good idea, but people need to be able to make their own decision regarding their own safety.

Calling to close lakeside is like calling to close Isle of Mann TT or Pikes peak.

My condolences, I always said chris was mad for being a willing passenger in hire drive cars.

It's all just too horrible. Courier Mail reports that the family of the surviving 20 year old driver (under instruction) was watching as it happened. :(

I know the guys who drive these cup cars. 17yo and 20yo brothers, both cars owned by their dad. The 20yo was driving, it was not 'hot laps', it was a private hire tuition day. Sean Edwards was instructing him. Seems to have been a brake failure or something at T6, skipped straight across the gravel and into the tyre wall.

The driver is hopefully going to be ok, despite the burns. I doubt his brother will ever race again.
