R888s mediums cost $240 I think for 205/50/15s I would guess these would do a 1 hr easily with the use I have had on them.

Don't think too many people are running the Hankooks on MX-5s...
From what I've heard V700s are better than the Hankooks on lighter cars, reverse if the car is over 1000kg. Both these tyres are in a different league to 888s.

If you get the Hankooks the mediums are a really good compound and don't have any less grip than the softs, just take a bit longer to warm up. Keep hearing good things about Yokohama AO50s and most of the top Tarmac Rally people run Dunlop 03Gs

My next set is some SOFT Federal FZ201s. Got them fitted and the sidewall is so hard the tyre fitter said they're the most difficult tyre he's ever fitted including all of the above. Good start

Thanks for the info, I have used federal fz201 and ao50 in medium on a 1400kg car, and r888 and dunlops on a 1100 kg front wheel drive car.

Dunlops are good but even in mediums just don't last.
R888 are not as grippy but indestructible

Fz201 are good value and keep on giving even when they are worn out. Had a set on my evo. And yes you are right about the sidewall. Ao50 much better but expensive.

I don't think my nc will be under 1000kg, running 225/45/17, so I am after any specific info for tyres for this car

One of the reasons I run 16s not 17s

V70a's will last you the hour but the Yokies will last longer and cost more for around the same performance.
But why are you going to run R specs rather than slicks? 1 hour rules?

But car will be 2f, I presume the run R spec?

All the manufacturers are getting involved. NanKang have prod race tyres on the water. Quite a bit cheaper than Federals.......... Have ordered 195/50R15s to test..... ;)

There are always bargains out there.

Price of top end track rubber is pretty high compared to overseas

If you run slicks then in the one hour yoou end up in the quicker classes, I think class C from memory. Staying 2F you run with the other 2F cars and most of the semis will do the hour easily.

Just be careful to make sure the tyres are on the CAMS pproduction tyre list before you throw your hard earned at them.
